Liverpool fans dread the return of Crystal Palace ‘Pele’

Though Liverpool are a shadow of their former selves, the sheer size of the club is enough to make players raise their game when playing against them.

No individual typifies that more than Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie. Excellent on his day, the 25-year old is perhaps one of the most inconsistent players in the league.

However, the mere prospect of lining up against the Reds seems to ignite something within his locker, finding the sort of consistency that makes him look like a world beater.

Understandably, Liverpool fans are nervous.

Across his Palace career, the DR Congo international has torn today’s visitors apart.

His thrilling mix of pace and power proved too much for the side on that fateful night in May 2014, as the Eagles all but ended Liverpool’s title challenge.

Such a performance was replicated at Anfield earlier this season as his flicks and tricks thrilled fans, as well as bamboozle the languid Reds defence.

To pile on the misery, the wicked winger is finally ready to return to the side after a lengthy absence. It is by no means a coincidence that the dismal run of form in South London coincided with the former Plymouth man’s injury.

A culmination of his string of impressive outings against the Merseyside giants have even seen him draw comparisons to Brazilian legend Pele.

Tongue in cheek perhaps, but an element of fear is ever prevalent on social media today.
